Caught Being Good!

Bring some Positive Reinforcement to your classroom by making this easy fish bowl from poster Board and laminating. Add a fishing pole with yarn. When you "catch" a child doing something good like sharing, being kind etc their fish goes into the fish bowl. At the end of the day I get my "basket" of treats and have the children gather around to announce who was caught being good and what they did. Those children receive a "big" round of applause and a special treat from the basket!

The Apple Pie Tree

After reading The Apple Pie Tree, create your own scented apple pie using paper plates! Paint both paper plates brown and after it is dry mix a bit of glue and water to thin it out and paint it across the top. Sprinkle a mixture of cinnamon and sugar and let dry. Add slits in the middle with a black marker and glue the two plates together to make the pie complete. Smells yummy!

Apple Seed Song

Tune to :Insey Weensy Spider
The tiny little apple seed
was planted in the ground,
down came the rain,
falling all around,
out came the sun,
as bright as bright can be,
and the tiny little Appleseed
became an apple tree!

Farmer Brown Had 10 Red Apples

Create this tree with poster board, laminate then attach magnetic tape to where you would like the apples placed. Make the apples using foam (you will need 10) and add a magnet to the back of each one so they will "attach" to the tree magnets. Sing the song below and remove one apple and pretend to eat it as you count down.  Continue until there are no more apples on the tree.

Farmer Brown had 10 red apples hanging from a tree (hold up ten fingers)
He picked one apple
and ate it hungrily
(pick one apple off  the tree and pretend to eat it)
Farmer Brown had 9 red apples hanging from a tree (hold up 9 fingers)
He picked one apple
and ate it hungrily (pick one apple off the tree and pretend to eat it)

(Continue by counting down the number of apples)
